Custom Workshops

I believe in empowerment. If you can teach others a skill, you don’t only give them a completed project, but the potential for many more.

We offer a series of workshops aimed at postgraduate students undertaking quantitative research, where a questionnaire will be used as the data collection tool. The workshops provide an introduction to the statistical concepts and tests used in quantitative research.

The materials deal with the practicalities of quantitative research rather than a string of theoretical ideas and frameworks that people find difficult to integrate into reallife research. Many of those I've worked with have taken some kind of statistics course in the past but lacked the know-how of how to take the skills they had and transfer that into tangible methods they could use for their own research.

The workshops aim to bridge the gap between the theoretical training often provided and the practical applications required for successful quantitative research.

In these workshops, you will find:
• No formulas
• No complicated statistical jargon and terminology
• Step by step guides that walk you through everything you need to know
• Intuitive explanations of statistical concepts
• A newfound appreciation for how magical statistics can be

Each topic covered is divided into four parts;
Part 1: What and why? Each section begins with a description of the topic and why it is important. None of these sections will contain complex formulas and unfamiliar jargon.
Part 2: How? A case study is provided that will be used throughout the course to demonstrate how to go about performing the technique. These illustrations will be done using a step by step approach.
Part 3: Apply your skills This is where you will reap the benefits of the course in relation to your own research. You can apply the step by step procedure demonstrated in the illustration example to your own data.
Part 4: Useful links Recommended reading and links to free resources that deliver deeper insight into these topics will be shared as part of the workshops.

WORKSHOPS ON OFFER

Our workshop series covers all aspects of your quantitative research journey, from conceptualizing
the research plan and data collection methods through to the data analysis and the writing up of the results.
To cater for everyone at different stages of their research, each topic can be presented as a standalone workshop.
However, if you are at the beginning stages of your research and would like to get the most out of what's on offer,
we recommend you participate in the entire workshop series.

List of the five workshops:
1. Introduction to Quantitative Research
2. Questionnaire Design and Considerations
3. Data Capturing and Cleaning
4. Descriptive Statistics
5. Inferential Statistics and Concepts
